The Laundry Project
The Laundry Project provides relief for struggling families and individuals in our Richmond, Indiana community by providing free laundry days. A day when participants can wash their laundry for free.
Clean Clothes
Clean clothes are an essential part of modern society, and having a neat appearance can greatly impact how we are perceived by others. However, imagine not having the means to provide your family with clean laundry regularly, or having to send your children to school in soiled clothing. This can have a significant impact on the self-esteem of both the child and the parents. Unfortunately, in Richmond, approximately 10,000 people live below the poverty level, many of whom are either without work or are working low-income jobs. As a result, laundry has become a luxury that many families cannot afford, and unclean clothes have become the norm.
The Laundry Project provides relief for those struggling to make ends meet. By washing each load of laundry, the project enhances the basic quality of life for its participants. As of June 30th, 2022, The Laundry Project has assisted those in need with over 36,546 loads of laundry - that's over 100 tons of laundry! By providing this essential service, The Laundry Project is helping to ease the burden on families living in poverty and restoring their dignity by giving them the ability to wear clean clothes.
